Eric Poulson PE -Owner and CEO
Eric Poulson established Poulson and Associates LLC in 1993. He has more than 40 years experience providing geotechnical, civil, environment consulting, and construction project management. Eric has an extensive background in a diverse range of engineering and construction services. He has conducted hundreds of projects for residential sites, bridges, industrial facilities, warehouses, airports and schools. Seeing an unfulfilled need, Eric developed the concept for P&A to have quick turnaround, as well as high quality site soil and environmental investigations for residential and commercial developers and owners. Eric has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Drexel University, and completed graduate studies in Geotechnical Engineering also at Drexel. He is the immediate past President , and a member of the Board of Directors of Drexel University’s College of Engineering Alumni Association. He is a member of the Dean of Engineering Advisory Council for Drexel University. Eric maintains an active membership in the American Society of Civil Engineers ( ASCE) through involvement in the Delaware Valley Geotechnical Institute. Eric is a member of ASTM E50 Committee that develops Standards for Environmental Investigations.
Chris Smitelli - Civil Engineering Manager
Chris attended Drexel University where he earned both his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and his Master’s degree in Business Administration. Through his various internships and jobs he has worked in New York, Australia and Philadelphia in several different roles ranging from engineering and construction management to materials testing (including a brief stint at the Seattle Aquarium). He has recently obtained his P.E. certification and is excited to take a break from studying and progress his profession development. Chris has been with Poulson and Associates since 2018 and is currently the head of the Civil Engineering department.
Brittany Punch PE - Structural Department Manager
Brittany joined Poulson and Associates, LLC, in the summer of 2019. Her mixed bag of experience includes everything from simple sign foundations to 5-story mixed-use buildings. Her broad range of engineering experience makes her well-suited for designing Philadelphian row homes and tackling the challenges that may accompany. Brittany graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Structural design and and Construction Engineering Technology, which she thinks might be the longest-worded degree title that exists. Without getting in the the nuts and bolts of it, her career was built on a solid foundation of structural design principles that Penn State cemented in her. She’s a member of WiSE (Women in Structural Engineering) Philadelphia and tries to get involved with hands-on construction projects where she can like Habitat for Humanity.
Brandon James EIT
Brandon graduated from Drexel University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering . He has five years of experience overseeing various Environmental and Geotechnical projects in Philadelphia and New York City. He is a certified EIT with plans to attain his Professional Engineering License.
Bryan Poulson
Bryan is a Senior Draftsman and has been part of the P&A team since 2009. He has 12 years of experience drafting various structural, Geotechnical, and Civil Engineering based drawings. Bryan has a wide range of skills in providing technical drawings as required by clients and municipalities authorities alike. Bryan also helps his coworkers with with supportive functions, and helps provide insight and clarity to different projects.
Josh Sheppard
Josh graduated from the University of Delaware with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2016. Josh then spent four years as a highway design engineer in Delaware. Josh has worked in Structural, Transportation, and now Civil and Site Engineering for Poulson and Associates since joining the team in October 2021. Josh is planning on converting his EIT certification into a professional engineering license soon.
Ed Fitzpatrick EIT
Ed joined Poulson & Associates in January 2020 after graduating from Villanova in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) as well as an Engineer in Training (EIT). His school engineering projects and internships have provided him with experience in surveying, drafting, and construction
Matthew Purcell
Matt joined the structural department of Poulson and Associates in the summer following his graduation from the University of Notre Dame in May 2023. He just passed his Civil FE exam to become an Engineer in training and is excited to put studying behind him- At least until he attempts to become a licensed professional engineer. Until then he is content to work on a myriad of structural projects for P&A using the knowledge and experience he gained through his collegiate studies and projects. When he is not working Matt can either be found at the Jersey Shore, or walking his golden doodle Seamus.
Melissa Small Office Manager
Melissa joined Poulson & Associates in 2013, initially just to help Eric “manage some paperwork”. Her organizational skills soon led to her becoming indispensable. She now manages day-to-day company operations and heads up the administrative team. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in international relations from Mount Holyoke College and uses her diplomacy skills every day to ensure that P&A’s clients and employees are equally happy with our business. Outside of the office, she enjoys playing the piano and painting with watercolor, and recently earned her ASA sailing certification.
Sharon Sauvukinis
Sharon joined our administrative team in 2016, in search of a position that offered a good work-life balance while raising her three sons. She brings a sense of humor and can-do attitude to the job. Sharon is a mainstay in helping keep the office organized and running smoothly. She holds her bachelor’s degree in nursing, and we are proud & grateful to say that she is part of the Citizens Corp of Delaware County, helping to administer Covid-19 vaccines.
